ANM: Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery

ANM stands for Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery. It is a two-year undergraduate course or certification or diploma course in Medical Nursing. Its duration may vary from institute to institute, e.g., 1 to 3 academic years, including six months of the internship. The course aims to enable students to help the whole community of people by providing basic medical care and treatment. It is the healthcare profession that is focused on the care of individuals, families, and communities so that they may attain and maintain a healthy life from conception to death.

ANM graduates can work in all types of healthcare organizations. Their job involves taking care of patients and assisting doctors in the treatment of patients. The course is available in both modes, part-time as well as full-time.

Eligibility for ANM Course:

  • The candidate must have passed the 10+2 exam with a minimum aggregate of 45% marks.
  • The candidate must be medically fit.
  • Some colleges conduct entrance exams and then interview for the admission of students in this course.
  • The candidate's age must be at least 17 by December 31 of the year they are applying for admission.
  • The candidate's age should not be greater than 35 years.
  • The applicant must have successfully completed the Class 12 examination with an Arts or Commerce major from a recognised Board.
  • Candidates must have completed class 12 in either the arts or sciences at the National Institute of Open School to be eligible.
  • Only once every year, the applicant should be admitted
