Aptitude Simplification Concepts and Formulas

To simplify the fractions, always carry out the operations in an order of each letter of the word "BODMAS", Where B stands for "Brackets"; O stands for "of" (multiplication); D for "division", M for "multiplication", A for "addition" and S for "subtraction".

Brackets are of four types: Small Brackets, Curly Brackets, Square Brackets and, Bar brackets.

While solving problems, we first operate:

  • Bar brackets, then
  • () small brackets and then
  • {} curly brackets and after that
  • [] square brackets

We have to proceed in that order. Last, of all we have to do addition and subtraction.
