What is the full form of BHELBHEL: Bharat heavy electricals limitedBHEL stands for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited. It is one of the oldest and largest engineering and manufacturing company in India. It is primarily a manufacturer of power plant equipment. BHEL was established in 1964. It is headquartered in New Delhi, India. As of January 2016, Shri Atul Sobti is the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BHEL. Apart from power plant equipment, it is actively engaged in design, engineering, manufacturing, testing and servicing of various products of the key sectors of economy like Power, Transportation (Railways), Transmission, Oil & Gas, Water and Defense. Out of the available 35,000 MW power generated in the country, BHEL alone generates around 20,000 MW per annum. The operations of BHEL mainly belong to three business sectors which are Power, Industry (Transportation, Transmission, Telecommunication and Renewable Energy) and Overseas Business. Today, it operates 17 manufacturing units, 4 regional offices, 8 service centres, 15 regional centres, 2 repair units and 6 joint ventures. With the help of these offices and centres, it is able to execute more than 150 projects in India and abroad. BHEL is also one of the largest exporters of engineering products and services. It exports in around 60 countries of the world. Some key products exported by BHEL are complete power stations, EPC contracts, turnkey contracts for power plants, HV/EHV Sub-stations, O&M services for familiar technologies, etc. BHEL strictly follows its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. It is actively engaged in improving the quality of life of the work force, local communities and society at large. Its Mission Statement on CSR is "Be a Committed Corporate Citizen".
