(i) BHP: Brake Horsepower

BHP stands for Brake Horsepower. It is the power measured by brake type dynamometer at a particular location, such as the transmission's output shaft, rear axle or rear wheels.

The brake is the vehicle's component used to apply braking force during testing (or driving); the resulting torque and rotating speed are calculated to determine BHP.

(ii) BHP: Broken Hill Proprietary

BHP also stands for Broken Hill Proprietary. It is a multinational company in mining, petroleum and natural gas, based in Melbourne, Australia.

It was founded on 16^th July 1885 in Silverton, New South Wales. In terms of market capitalization, BHP became the world's largest mining firm, and in terms of revenue, it became Melbourne's third-largest company.

(iii) BHP: Boiler Horsepower

BHP also stands for Boiler Horsepower. It is the unit used to calculate the steam boiler's strength, which is equal to 34.5 pounds of steam per hour generated at 212-degree Fahrenheit. Simply, it is the unit for calculating the output of the Boiler.

(iv) BHP: Browning Hi-Power

BHP stands for Browning Hi-Power. It is the model of handgun which is semi-automatic. It is present in 9mm and .40 S&W calibres. John Browning designed the gun model, and Dieudonne Saive completed its manufacturing at FN Herstal, a leading firearm manufacturing company. This pistol was introduced in 1935.

The specifications of BHP include a mass of 1 kg, a length of 197 mm and the barrel length of 119 mm. The cartridge usable in BHP are 7.65*21mm Parabellum, 9*19mm Parabellum and .40 S&W. it has a maximum fire range of 50 m.

In India, it is locally manufactured in the pistol Auto 9mm 1A category. Various variants of BHP are available such as P35, L9A1, Mark I, Mark I Lightweight, Mark II, Mark III, Standard, Silver Chrome, Captain, Practical, HP-SFS, Browning BDM, BDA, BDAO, Pistol Auto 9mm 1A, etc.

(v) BHP: Beardmore Halford- Pullinger

BHP also stands for Beardmore Halford- Pullinger. It was a series of aircraft engines used between years 1916 to 1918. In World War I, aircraft like the Airco DH4, DH9, de Havilland DH.15, etc., used these engines.

The name of the engine is derived from the name of three persons who contributed to the machine's development: Sir William Beardmore, Major Frank Halford and Thomas Pullinger.

Sir William Beardmore provided his company's funding and original engine to develop the engine.

Major Frank Halford proposed various modifications to the engine's design in the original design received from Beardmore's design.

Thomas Pullinger was the person who helped in the execution of the design of the engine by Halford. He was the MD of Arrol- Johnston which developed and produced Beardmore engines.

Beardmore 120 hp was the first BHP model engine.

(vi) BHP: Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

BHP stands for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. It is also known as prostate gland enlargement. It is a disorder common in men who are getting older. There are different symptoms seen in the patient with BHP, like the frequent need for urination, nocturia, inability to completely vacate the bladder, trickling at the end of urination, improper and weak urine stream, infection in the urinary tract, extraction of blood along with the urine, feeling pain difficulty in urination.

The common causes of BHP are an issue of Kidney stones or bladder stones, problems with the nerves which control the bladder, patients with prostate cancer, etc.

Some lifestyle cures can help a person suffering from BHP, like completely abstaining from liquid items at least two hours before bedtime to minimize the chances of urination at night, saying no to alcohol and minimizing the consumption of caffeine and including physical exercise in the daily routine.

Medical treatments are also available, which one must consider along with lifestyle changes. They are as follows:

• Use of drugs such as Finasteride and dutasteride.
• Use of drugs for relaxing bladder muscles like tamsulosin and alfuzosin.
• Suppose the condition becomes severe in most BHP cases. In that case, the doctors choose the path of surgery, which include surgical methods like Trans-urethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP), bipolar trans-urethral resection of the prostate, and the last one is holmium laser enucleation of the prostate.
