Difference between Seed and Grain

The terms "seed" and "grain" are related but different from a botanical standpoint. They are interrelated but not synonyms as some seeds can be grains, but all grains are seeds, but all seeds are not considered grains.

Seed: "Seed is a product or medium of the living thing from where life begins depending on various circumstances like temperature, light, and humidity."

"Seed is living embryo of a new plant that sprouts after being buried under the soil with desirable circumstances and becomes a new plant."

A seed is a baby plant in a condensed form consisting of a matured fertilized plant ovule with an embryo and having a protective coat or testa.

Grain: A grain is the by-product of the plant grown from the seed. It is a small edible hard on the outside fruit of the plant. Grain can be different; depending on the type, they have little to moderate digestibility and nutrition for humans and animals.

They grow in clusters on the top of mature plants like rice, wheat, barley, oats, etc.

A grain product is anything made from wheat, rice, oats, cornmeal, barley, or another cereal grain. Grain products include tortillas, pasta, breakfast cereals, grits, and bread. The Grains Group also has foods like popcorn, rice, and oatmeal.

There are two subgroups of grains: entire/whole and refined grains.

A full grain consists of a complete grain kernel that includes endosperm, germ, and germ. Examples: oatmeal, brown rice, bulgur, and whole-wheat flour.
Refined grains- When the harvested grains are milled in which bran and germ is removed from each other.
This process provides grain with a finer texture and improves its shelf life. A disadvantage is that it removes iron, dietary fiber, and many B vitamins. Examples of refining grains are corn grits, white bread, white flour, and white rice.
These grains can be enriched again by adding some vitamin B (riboflavin, folic acid, thiamine, niacin).
Different foods are made from only whole, refined, or mixtures.

Conclusion: Seed is produced due to the sexual reproduction of higher plants. Seeds develop into a plant that can produce grain as a plant's fruit, or grain is the grass seed.

Therefore the difference between seed and grain defines that they are interrelated but still have their properties.
