She was raised by her father, late Vinay Kumar Bhatnagar, and mother, Dolly Bhatnagar. Divya mainly focused on working as an entertainer. However, she was also a creation supervisor. Nowadays, she is well-known for her work in the acting industry as well as in production management. She made her debut in the acting world with roles in Bollywood films such as "99" and "Sapne Sakar Karo". Although she started with the movies, she later decided to work on television shows. She moved to Hindi TV serials because she was getting unimportant and small roles in the movies. She began her TV career with "Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai", which has been dominating the world of Hindi TV serials for the past couple of decades. The first episode aired on January 12, 2009, and the show is still going strong after more than 3238 episodes have been produced.

The television program, Ye Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, can be seen on Star Plus. The duo, Jai Kalra and Ram Pandey, are credited with directing this television series that Rajan Shahi produced for Director's Kut Productions.

Divya's family discovered this information after finding the message from her. She had written this message about how he hit her so violently anytime he wanted.

According to her brother, she also went to the police station in her hometown to report that she had been the victim of domestic abuse. Divya Bhatnagar's husband, Gagan Gabru, who was accused of domestic abuse by the actress' family and Devoleena Bhattacharjee (Divya Bhatnagar's friend), has rubbished all claims through his videos on the internet.

Gagan released the footage of Divya having a good time with him, enjoying dancing and laughing with him. In a separate video, Gagan disproved each and every one of Devoleena's statements, including that Gagan intentionally led Divya to mental abuse, which ultimately caused her to get ill. Due to this, she got weak, felt overthrown, and lost her fight against Covid-19. Gagan later said that he is still shocked by Divya's sudden death, adding that Devoleena Bhattacharjee is just trying to get publicity.

Gagan made it clear that he and Divya had acknowledged and accepted one another's past. He stated that Devoleena is no one to come between them. He stood by her side through all of the challenging moments, during which he disclosed that Divya had acquired financial obligations on account of her family and had pledged her jewellery as collateral for a loan.

Gagan wondered why her family and Devoleena were not there to help when she needed them. He said that her family was living in his home without his permission and threatened to expel him. Gagan continued by saying that no one from her family gave him permission to see Divya when she was in the hospital with them. He disclosed that he had all of the proof necessary to demonstrate his innocence at this time.
