It is a leading acting school of India and an active member of International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television (CILECT). It is committed to provide quality training to the aspirants in the field of film and television. FTII is located at Pune in India. It was established in 1960. It is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of Government of India. It is aided by the Central Government of India. The governing council determines its policies and also appoints the director of the institute. Some of the famous alumni of FTII are John Abraham, Jaya Bachchan, Danny Denzongpa, Mukesh Khanna, Mithun Chakraborty. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, David Dhawan and Rajkumar Hirani.
