What is the full form of GSIGSI: Geological survey of indiaGSI stands for Geological Survey of India. It is a government organization in India which deals with conducting geological surveys and studies. It is an office attached to the Ministry of Mines and the second oldest survey in the country. GSI is established in 1852. It is headquartered at Kolkata, West Bengal. It has six Regional offices which are located at Lucknow, Jaipur, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Shillong and Kolkata. The Union Cabinet formed a High Powered Committee (HPC) to review the work of Geological Survey of India and evaluate its ability to meet the emerging challenges considering the technical and manpower resources of the organization.
