How to boil eggs
Boiling an egg may seem quite easy but it takes time to boil. Boiled eggs are full of nutrients and very delicious snacks. Whether you want soft boiled eggs or hard-boiled eggs, it is a very simple process, read on the given tutorial to learn how to boil eggs.
Soft boiled eggs
Pour water into a container:
Keep the eggs in a large saucepan. Fill the saucepan with more water so that the eggs are covered by about an inch, afterward add one tablespoon salt. After now, set it on the heater over high temperature. Once the water gets boiled, slow down the temperature.
Add up to 5 eggs:
Use a spoon to adjust the eggs in the boiling water. After that, you need to cover the saucepan tightly and allow to set a timer for 4- 7 minutes depending on how wet you want yolk. If you are boiling 4-5 eggs, you need to include up to 1 minute onto your time.
For slightly solid yolk, you need to boil eggs for 7-8 minutes.
For a liquid yolk, boil eggs for 5-6 minutes.
Remove the eggs from boiled water:
Once the eggs are boiled, you need to remove the eggs from the boiled water and keep them into the cold water for a minute. Use a spoon to pull out the eggs form the container one by one.
Tap around the top to remove outer:
Once you remove the eggs from the boiled water, you need to tap the egg around the top with a knife to remove the outer layer.
Keep up to 8 eggs in a large saucepan:
Before starting the egg boiling procedure, ensure to use a large container/saucepan and deep enough to keep all eggs in one layer (eggs don't overlap one another) with some space for them to move.
Note: Use older eggs in your refrigerator for more than a week because older eggs have less moisture content and higher pH value making their shells simpler to flake off when you are ready to eat.
Cover the eggs with at least 1 inches of water:
Once you put the eggs in a saucepan, you need to keep the pan in the sink and fill it with normal water until the eggs get covered by about 1- 2 inches of water.
After now, you need to add one tsp. of salt to keep the eggs form cracking in the saucepan. If you add salt in the saucepan, it makes it easier for you to remove the outer of the eggs when you are ready for it.
Keep the saucepan on the stove:
Once you add the salt, place the saucepan on the stove and heat it on high temperature until it gets to boil. You can also leave the saucepan without any cover while you boil the eggs.
If you find an egg crack during you are boiling, continue cooking it. In specific situations, a few white eggs may slip out of their shell, but it will be safe to eat.
Once the eggs boil, you need to turn off the stove and cover the saucepan and let it set on the stove for a minimum 15 minutes if you want hard yolk.
Remove the water and keep the eggs under cold water:
Once the eggs are boiled, you need to drain the boiled water out of the saucepan and put the eggs under the cold water for some time. After some time, touch the eggs, whether it is cool to handle or not.
To check if eggs are done, you need to pull out one egg with a spoon, keep it under cold water for a while, and cut it with a sharp knife. If the yolk is not done as per your taste, keep the other eggs for 1-2 minutes.
Store hard-boiled eggs in their shells:
You can store hard-boiled eggs in their shells in the cold place for up to a week. If you want to store the eggs for a day, you need to remove them from the water before they are cool. Place them in their container to restrict them from absorbing other food odors and eat them within a week.
One thing you should keep in mind before storing the boiled egg, only keep hard-boiled eggs that are still in their shell. Once you remove the outer layer of the egg, finish it within the same day.
If a hard-boiled egg feels loose after removing the outer, don't eat the egg. It indicates that eggs are not good.
Tap the egg on a hard surface to crack the shell:
If you are ready to eat the egg, you need to tap the egg gently on the hard surface to crack the shell. Once the egg cracks, you need to roll it with your hand until the crack has expanse around the egg. After that, keep the egg underwater and peel the outer layer off.
