IRCS: Indian Red Cross Society

IRCS stands for Indian Red Cross Society. It is a voluntary humanitarian organization that has around 700 branches in India. It is primarily concerned with providing relief during disasters or emergencies and helping vulnerable people and communities. It is also a member of the largest humanitarian organization of the world, the International Red cross & Red Crescent Movement.

The IRCS aims to inspire, encourage and initiate all kind of charitable activities in order to reduce or prevent human suffering and to establish friendly environment for peace.

ABOUT IRCS

• IRCS was established in the year 1920 under the Indian Red Cross Society Act and it was incorporated under the parliament Act XV of 1920.
• It is headquartered in New Delhi, India.
• It has 35 State/Union Territories branches and more than 700 district and sub district branches.
• President of India is the President of the society and Union Health Minister is the Chairman of the Society.
• The Secretary General is the Chief Executive of the Society.
• The National Managing Body has 19 members who elect the Vice Chairman.
• The Managing Body is supervises the work of the society through a number of committees.

The IRCS has divided its work into four main areas which are given below;
