Types of Knowledge

1. Explicit Knowledge

Explicit Knowledge refers to Knowledge that is easy to document in writing and share at large. This is what we call structured information. If explicit Knowledge is managed well, it can be used to make better decisions, save time and increase performance.

These explicit knowledge types include all information that has been previously captured in a knowledge base or part of a knowledge management plan. It is a formalized document that can help you do a job, inform an audience, or make a decision.

Explicit Knowledge can be described as questions, instructions, raw data, related reports, diagrams and one-sheets, strategy slide decks, and FAQs.

2. Implicit Knowledge

Implicit Knowledge refers to essentially learned skills or know-how. It's achieved by applying explicit Knowledge to a particular situation. Implicit Knowledge is the Knowledge that you acquire by applying explicit Knowledge to a specific situation.

When you know the best way to do something, implicit Knowledge is acquired. This Knowledge can be combined with other information to solve a new problem.

Traditional knowledge bases have excluded this type of Knowledge because it is difficult to capture and document in a scalable manner. Although implicit Knowledge is more difficult to document than explicit Knowledge, it could include the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects in order to meet deadlines.

3. Declarative Knowledge

Declarative Knowledge can also be called propositional Knowledge. It refers to static information that is specific to a topic and can be easily accessed. It is a form of Knowledge in which the individual is conscious of their knowledge of the subject matter.

This Knowledge is usually stored in documentation or databases. It focuses more on the "who", "what", and "where" behind information than on the "how" or "why"?

An example of declarative Knowledge is the ability to identify the company's goals for the year. Reading the company newsletter, which contains the metrics and goals, can help the individual understand how performance will measure up.

4. Procedural Knowledge

Procedural Knowledge is focused on the 'how' of things and can be demonstrated by one's ability to do something. Declarative Knowledge is more focused on the 'who', 'what, where, and when'. Procedural Knowledge, however, is more action-oriented and documented through manuals.

Procedural Knowledge is derived from the root "procedure". An example of procedural know-how could be an operating procedure that explains how to perform specific tasks or use particular equipment within an organization. Ex- How to do cycling.

The information contained in books is a direct source and not as extensive as the reading of articles that have been published online.

Reading can stimulate the brain to focus on each word that is written in the text. It also broadens the lens of imagination. The cognitive function shifts direction while reading online. Shortcuts are utilized, and keywords are searched while the page is gone when it's finished, and it is impossible to go back to the page to read a review. However, this does not mean that one approach is superior to another. It's all about balance. Do not underestimate the importance of books.

The trap you are in is one of the fatal choices you could make. Reducing the effects of your circumstances is a key part of living a healthy life. Being aware of the surroundings around you and your personal environment can help stop a lot of terrible problems from happening. Be aware that your actions impact the people in your vicinity as well as those whom you will never meet. Keep moving forward with the firmness of intention and steadfastness.

4.) Develop Good Habits

We all suffer from making bad choices. These are the faults we all have. However, don't compromise by having your bad habits overpower the positive. Every day is different and unique, but there are still obligations as well as duties and tasks we're held accountable for. We are required to perform similar routines every day to stay alive. That is the way we develop the habits we decide to create. The process of replacing bad habits with positive habits can take a long time, and it's not an easy process. If you're stuck on something that doesn't improve your situation, it's an unproductive habit.

Whatever your habit might be, recognize that you're wasting time doing it, and then replace it with an interest that benefits you. They can range from the simplest of things, like cooking more often, to set the deadline for an undertaking you're working on.
