However, under the Atmanirvar Bharat scheme or for promoting the made in India products or due to some political reasons, various Chinese apps were banned in India. For the first time in June 2020, 59 apps were banned. After that 49, apps were banned, and till now, the total number of banned Chinese apps reached 267. Even after banning the apps, many people still used some of the popular apps through VPN (a virtual private network).
