1. Aquarion Evol (2012)

The Japanese anime TV show Aquarion EVOL debuted in 2012. It debuted on TV Tokyo on January 8, 2012, as a one-hour special that included the first two episodes of Genesis of Aquarion. Plot: On the day before his summer vacation, Daichi Manatsu, a second-year high school student, notices a strange circular rainbow hovering above Tanegashima Island on television and notes that he had previously seen it. He travels all by himself to Tanegashima Island, home to Japan's Tanegashima Space Center and the location of his father's final, tragic mission, feeling uneasy about the whole situation.

When he gets to the island and enters a building from his youth, Daichi starts to wonder about other mysteries, like his dad's unintentional death and the memories of other strange kids and girls he met when he was a kid. As alarms start to sound at the facility, he discovers a huge robot called "Earth Engine" and buys a strange gun named a "Livlaster."

3. Dragonaut: The Resonance (2007)

Manabu Ono is the director of the anime series Dragonaut: The Resonance, which Gonzo and Nihon Ad Systems jointly co-produced (NAS). From October 3, 2007, through March 26, 2008, the series aired on the Japanese network TV Tokyo. Later in 2009, Funimation Entertainment might start distributing the anime in North America.

4. Knight of Sidonia (2014)

Tsutomu Nihei is the creator of the Japanese manga series Knights of Sidonia. Between April 2009 and September 2015, Kodansha published it in Monthly Afternoon, a seinen manga magazine. Its episodes were compiled in 15 tank-bon volumes.

Plot: The alien species Gauna destroyed Earth many years ago and has since been hunting down the survivors of humankind, who narrowly survived and fled throughout the galaxy aboard a series of enormous seed ships. Nagate Tanikaze emerges from his lifetime of isolation deep below the seed ship Sidonia in the year 3394 in quest of nourishment on the top decks, only to find himself drawn into circumstances that are taking place without his awareness.

Yutaka Izubuchi produced and directed the anime television series RahXephon in Japan.
