The slaves and servants were ill-treated due to the following reasons:

  • They were not allowed to visit temples.
  • They were prisoners of the war.
  • They were only allowed to do the work as told by their masters.

Yes, the orders of the emperor can improve their conditions. Emperors were the supreme power and everyone had to follow their rules. No one can disobey the order of the Emperor. Otherwise, they might get punished.

7. Write a short paragraph explaining to Roshan why the lions are shown on our currency notes. List at least one other object on which you see them.

Answer: Lion was a symbol of victory, peace, truth, and kindness. Ashoka was one of the greatest ruler know in the Indian history. His inscriptions were carved on the rocks and pillars. The lions on the pillar in the Sarnath were carved in stone and placed on the top. Ashoka was also inspired the teachings of Buddha. He believed in following the non-violence path after winning the Kalinga war. Hence, lions are shown on the currency notes as a symbol.

The symbol of lion is known as the State Emblem of the country. There are various objects where we can see the lion symbol.
