OnePlus was created by two persons by the names of Pete Lau and Carl Pei in 2013. Whereas Lau was a previous vice president of Oppo, which is currently a rival of OnePlus, Carl Pei was a computer programmer by profession. The Philosophy Behind OnePlus OnePlus was founded in August 2013 as a result of a casual coffee-table discussion amongst a group of early workers who were, at the time, just acquaintances. As we sat with our phones on the table, we saw that almost everyone was using an iPhone. Chinese public documents show that Oppo Electronics is OnePlus' only institutional stakeholder. On the other hand, Oppo Electronics and not Oppo Mobile (the phone maker) is a big investment in OnePlus, according to Lau. When OnePlus first started out, the firm had a one-phone-per-year approach, which was amended in 2016 when the OnePlus 3 and the OnePlus 3T were both released in the same year, respectively. On January 23, 2015, Lazada Indonesia became the first retailer in Southeast Asia to carry OnePlus goods, and the company was anticipated to spread across the region that year. OnePlus opted to leave the Indonesian market in June 2016 owing to local rules banning sales of the OnePlus 2 for imported 4G devices.
Since OnePlus acquired Oppo in July 2021, OxygenOS and ColorOS have been integrated into a single codebase. Because of this, future OxygenOS releases should benefit from a more uniform OxygenOS software experience. The software of both firms will continue to be used in their respective areas (OxygenOS for OnePlus phones globally, ColorOS for OnePlus, and Oppo devices in China).
