Coronavirus Origin

The virus Coronavirus is a collection of many viruses that is present in birds and mammals. The virus also affects human beings. At present, Coronavirus has become the leading cause of respiratory tract infections in human beings. In some common cold cases, that infection (mainly cause of rhinoviruses) can be mild, but in most cases, it is lethal. The related Coronaviruses are SARS- CoV (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), MERS- CoV (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome), and Covid-19, etc.

The symptom varies in different species. For Example- In birds and chickens, this virus causes an upper respiratory tract infection, and in some mammals like pig and cow, it is the cause of diarrhea.

The antiviral drugs and vaccines to treat or prevent Coronavirus infections are not available yet.

What is Coronavirus?

The name Coronavirus is derived from the Latin word "crown" or "halo.". Its shape looks like a crown or Solar Coronavirus around the virus particles when viewed via a two-dimensional transmission electron microscopy technique. The scientific name of the Coronavirus is OrthoCoronavirusvirinae or Coronavirusviniae. Thus, the Coronavirus belongs to the OrthoCoronavirusvirinae family (group). Coronavirus is a virus with the largest R.N.A genome size of 27 to kilobases. There are some other viruses included in the subfamily of Coronavirus, such as Coronavirusviridae, Order Nidovirales, and Realm Riboviria. These viruses are enfolded with a single-stranded positive-sense RNA genome and nucleocapsid of helical symmetry.

How and Where the Coronavirus Originate?

According to many health experts, the strain of Coronavirus comes from Pangolins or bats. The COVID-19 has become a pandemic Coronavirus disease for 2019-20. The cause of pandemic Coronavirus disease is Serve Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS Covid-2). The Coronavirus is common in Cattles and camels. It is unclear how exactly the Coronavirus spread in humans. According to the research, it has been observed that the SARS-CoV-2 spread in humans from seafood and animals.

Human Coronaviruses were discovered in the late 1960s. The first virus was discovered as an infection Bronchitis in chickens and two humans with a normal cold. Later these viruses were named Human Coronavirus 229E and Human Coronavirus OC43. With this, other viruses of the same family such as SARS-CoV in 2003, HCoV NL63 in 2004, HKU-1 in 2005, MERS-CoV in 2012, and SARS-CoV2 (nCoV-2019) in 2019 has also been identified till now. Most of these viruses are the cause of Respiratory Tract Infections.

The first infected human was identified in Wuhan, Hubei, China, in December 2019. A 55-year-old was the first infected person with Covid-19 in Wuhan, China. After that, the new Coronavirus spread all across the globe, covering almost a major part of the globe. On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization (W.H.O) included it in a pandemic.

As of 04 July 2020, more than 11,220,009 cases of Coronavirus have been recorded in more than 212 countries. The Covid-19 has become a global pandemic resulting in more than 529,604 reported deaths cases till now. The total number of recoveries from Covid-19 is 6,363,717 till now.

In India, a total of 650,431 positive cases has been reported that include 18,669 deaths and 394,411 recoveries till now. In United States of America, the total number of positive cases are 2,891,267 including 132,112 deaths and 1,235,965 recoveries. In Brazil, the total numbers of infected people are 1,545,458 which include 63,295 deaths and 978,615 recoveries. In Russia, there are a total of 674,515 cases have been reported that include 10,027 deaths and 446,879 recoveries. In China, the Coronavirus infected people are 83,545 that include 4,634 deaths and 78,509 recoveries. Still, it is not known that when this will stop.

How it Spread?

The Coronavirus spreads from person to person contact. When the infected person exhales out the breath or cough, then they drive out small droplets contain viruses. These tiny drops can enter in someone's mouth or nose and cause infection to them also. The drops that contain viruses can also land on the surface of any object. The other people can get the virus from that object or surface.

The most common way of spreading the infection is by keeping close contact with the Coronavirus infected person. This disease is more dangerous when the symptoms of the person are at a high peak. The Covid-19 is the new virus, and we do not have any vaccines or specific treatments for this. The research for Coronavirus is still going on.

Symptoms of Coronavirus

There are some primary symptoms of Covid-19 given below-

• Persistent Cold and Cough
• Shortness of Breath
• Fever
• Chest Pressure or Pain
• Body Pain (sometimes)

These symptoms can be seen between 3-14 days if anyone is infected from the Covid-19 disease.

Prevention

It is a challenge to find the exact and effective ways to prevent the infection of SARS-CoV-2. Antiviral vaccines prevent many viruses. Maybe the vaccines for Covid-19 take time to discover. There are some ways given below to avoid the Covid-19 infection-

• The best way to prevent the Coronavirus is to avoid social gatherings and regularly to wash the hands per hour. According to the Center Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we have to wash the hands with water and soap for at least 20 seconds each time.
• Hand washing or Sanitizing is very important after being in public places.
• We should avoid touching the face unnecessarily before washing the hands properly.
• The people infected with Covid-19 should stay at home and avoid contact with other people outside.
• We should always clean the surface surrounding us and avoid the sharing of any items.
• We must cover the nose and mouth if we are sneezing or coughing.
• Always try to wear a mask.
