Stretching a drawing entity

  1. Click Tools > Sketch Tools > Stretch Entities when in Edit Sketch mode or by selecting Stretch Entities Tool Stretch Entities Sketch.gif from the Sketch toolbar.
  2. Choose sketch entities for Sketch item or annotations under Entities to Stretch in the Property Manager.
  3. Choose either from/To or X/Y under Parameters:

Modification instructions for parameters

  1. Click Base point from/To To establish a base point, first click on the drawing and then base point Move Copy.gif.
  2. Stretch the drawing entities by dragging.

Entities expand to that point upon release, and the Property Manager shuts.

X/Y

  1. To stretch the drawing entities, enter values for the delta X and delta y parameters.
  2. To stretch the entities by the same distance once more, click Repeat.
  3. Toggle PM OK.gif on.

Expanding Entities

To move a node's location while maintaining its relationship to other nodes in the entity, use the Stretch command. As contrast to scaling, stretching simply enlarges or shrinks objects in one direction. Stretching can also be used to shift individual things inside a contour.

The selection strategy affects whether things stretch or move during stretching.

  • When the selection window is entirely filled, all entities move.
  • By changing the end points within a crossing window or polygon and leaving the other end points where they originally were, all entities intersecting the selecting window or polygon extend or shrink.
  • The placements and forms of all other drawing elements are maintained.

Lines, Polyline segments, Rays, Arcs, elliptical Arcs, and Splines may all be stretched.

extending entities

  1. Choose Stretch under Modify (or type Stretch).
  2. Choose the entities you want to stretch in the graphics section.
If you want to extend the nodes, surround them in a crossing window or polygon. With this technique, you may use the Remove option to remove entities from your selection set. Press Enter after wiping off the entities.
  3. Enter the key.
  4. To provide the length needed to stretch the entities, specify a starting point and an ending point.

As stated, the entities stretch.

By utilizing displacement, entities may be widened:

  4. To vectorize the supplied entities, use the displacement option. By providing the X, Y, and Z displacements, you may provide the relative location of the stretched entities. Do not give a Z delta if stretching will only be done in the X and Y dimensions.

- or -

To use the specified from point as displacement, provide the from point specification.

As stated, the entities stretch.

Using Entity Grips, stretch a single entity like follows:

Choose the entities you want to stretch in the graphics section.

On one of the Entity Grips, click.

Click while moving the cursor to a different spot.

With Entity Grips, stretch several entities:

Choose the entities you want to stretch in the graphics section.

While you click many Entity Grips, keep Shift depressed.

Click one Entity Grip to serve as the basic grip after releasing Shift.

Click while moving the cursor to a different spot.

Transient Entities

Reposition drawing entities inside the coordinate system with the Move command without altering their size or orientation.

Moving entities:

To move, choose Modify (or type Move).

  1. Enter to confirm your choice of one or more entities to relocate after specifying them.
  2. Give the entities a base point and a target location, then move them by the given distance.
  3. Instead, you may enter Displacement at the prompt and then enter the X, Y, and Z displacements to indicate the relative location of the duplicate. Do not give a Z delta if the motion will only be done in the X and Y axes.

As indicated, the entities relocate.

moves the entities' specified points.

The unselected points of an entity stay in their existing placements if you choose only part of its points. As a result, by shifting the chosen spots, you extend the thing.

A full thing can be moved if all its points are selected.

commands is finished.

confirms the choice.

Only the points contained in the selection window are moved by the Stretch command. Points outside the selection window are unaffected. The selection window's items are all shifted. The base point and the target terminus must first be specified before choosing the points to stretch.
