Thapar University

Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala, was its last name. Lala Karam Chand of the renowned Thapar Group founded the Institute sometime in or around 1955. The Institute is famous for demanding engineering studies, high discipline, quality education, 100% campus placement, illustrious alums, expansive hostel accommodations, expansive green areas, ultra-modern annual fests, open-air theatres, and many other things.

It is rumored that the exam questions for the various engineering semesters are either more challenging than even IITs or were created by IITs. The university has a strong reputation both domestically and abroad. Thapar University is one of the most prominent regional universities in the nation, covering a relatively sizable 265 acres. The campus, which occupies a 250-acre plot of ground in the centre of Patiala, is home to six former academic buildings-A, B, C, D, E, and F-as well as the two more recent ones, TAN and H. The original Thapar Polytechnic College structure has been transformed into the G academic block.

Three new structures, including a lecture hall complex, a computer facility, and a new library, were inaugurated by the Institute in 2018. A new five-floor Nava Nalanda Library, a six-floor computer complex with labs and faculty areas, and a six-floor lecture complex with lecture halls ranging from 200 to 550 students each and activity rooms with capacities of 200 students each were among the completed expansions. Modern hostels with a combined capacity of more than 8,000 students can be found on the campus, including A, B, C, D, H, J, K, L, M, and O for boys and E, F, G, I, and N for girls.
