Top 10 Central Universities in India

Three types of publicly sponsored universities exist in India those are deemed, state, and central. The Union Human Resource Development Ministry under Higher Education Department operates the Central Universities of India, which were established by an act of Parliament on the endorsement of the Government of India. Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and Aligarh Muslim University are among the nearly 50 central institutions that the Government of India (GoI) currently directly sponsors. Except for the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Central Agricultural University which is controlled and financially supported by the U.G.C and Ministries of Human Resource Development and Agriculture.

In India, there are 54 central universities. New Delhi has the most central universities of any state or union territory, with seven universities, followed by Uttar Pradesh with six and Bihar with four. Manipur, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana add value with three universities to the national total of central universities.

The Central Universities Act of 2009 governs and regulates the central universities. Central universities are allowed to award their degrees, but they are not allowed to grant college affiliation. Moreover, according to the most recent U.G.C. list, India has 46 deemed central universities offering M.B.A., B Tech, M Tech, and Ph.D. programs.

CUCET

CUCET is an all-India entrance test held once per year in 120 cities across India in offline mode (pen and paper) by 14 central universities for admission to U.G., P.G., and Ph.D. programs. Programs are available in all selected universities. This exam will be taken by a total of 20 universities, including 13 central universities and the Dr. B R Ambedkar School of Economics (BASE). The exam is being held at the Central University of Rajasthan. To apply for and take the CUCET, candidates must meet the eligibility requirements of the Central Universities.

Jawaharlal Nehru University

In 1966, a Parliamentary act created the Jawaharlal Nehru University. The Best University Award was given to it in 2017 by the President of India. The school is renowned for its master's programs, particularly in political science, and it was the first to provide an integrated five-year M.A. degree in foreign languages.
