UNU: United Nations University

UNU stands for United Nations University. It is a global postgraduate teaching organization that aims to resolve the global issues of human survival, welfare and development through mutual research and education. To fulfill its objective, the UNU works in collaboration with top universities and research institutes of the UN member states. It plays the role of a bridge between the international academics and the United Nations system.

The UNU is headed by the Rector which is the chief academic and administrative officer of UNU. He is responsible for the administration and programmes of the university. As of 2017, Dr. David M. Malone is the Rector of the United Nations University. The university comprises 13 institutes and programmes which are located in different countries, each institute has its own Director, advisory board and staff.

UNU offers a wide range of master's, doctoral and short-term programmes that provide the students the necessary academic foundations to address global issues. It brings together the faculty from both developed and developing countries that provide the diverse student body the first-hand research experience on global problems.
