In this article, we are discussing the windows shortcut commands. Here, we will discuss the shortcut keys using the window key or winkey. It is essential to know the shortcut keys for a computer user as they provide an easier way of navigating and performing commands.

If you want to use the computer frequently, you must have knowledge about the computer shortcut keys. The use of shortcut keys is beneficial for computer users, as it allows them to complete tasks accurately and in less time.

Shortcut keys help to increase productivity and reduce the strain caused by repetitive motions.

The computer shortcut keys are said to be the set of one or more keys that generate a specific command to be executed.

Now, let's discuss the windows shortcut keys.

Window key shortcuts

The window shortcut keys are tabulated as follows. Here, the Winkey is the window key.

Shortcut keys	Explanation
Window key	The window key provides the option to open or close the start menu.
Winkey + m	It allows the users to minimize all the opened programs.
Winkey + e	It helps the users to open the hard disk drives or computer window.
Winkey + d	It is used to minimize all open windows and also restores the minimized windows. For instance, suppose if you have opened different programs such as Microsoft Word, Google Chrome, then you can press Winkey + d to minimize all opened windows.
Winkey + shift + m	It is used to restore all minimized windows by using Winkey + d and Winkey + m shortcut keys.
Winkey + f	It will show you a window where you can search or find the available data in your computer.
Winkey + l	It is used to lock the computer to switch users.
Winkey + r	It is used to open the Run dialog box. It can be used to open various other programs. For instance, if you want to open Microsoft word, press Winkey + r and type winword in opened run window and press enter.
Winkey + pause/break	This shortcut is used to open the system properties of the window.
Winkey + number	This shortcut allows the user to open the programs pinned to the taskbar as per their position on the taskbar. For example, suppose the Mozilla Firefox is at the 4^th position on your taskbar, so you can open it by pressing Winkey + 4. Similarly, if Microsoft word is placed at 6^th position, you can press Winkey + 6 to open it.
Shift + Winkey + number	This shortcut allows the user to open the programs pinned to the taskbar multiple times as per their position on the taskbar. For example, suppose the Mozilla Firefox is at the 4^th position on your taskbar, so you can open it by pressing shift + Winkey + 4. If we press again the same shortcut key, another window of Mozilla Firefox will open. This shortcut key will open the window as many times as you press it, irrespective of opening it once.
Alt + Winkey + number	This shortcut is used to open the jump list for the program pinned to the taskbar as per the position of the program on the taskbar. Suppose the Mozilla Firefox is at the 4^th position on the taskbar. Then on pressing Alt + Winkey + 4 will open the jump list of the Mozilla Firefox. The jump list will also show the list of frequent tasks of that program.
Winkey + p	This shortcut key allows the user to choose a presentation display mode. It displays the list of four presentation modes that are - Computer only, Duplicate, Extend, and Projector only. The presentation modes are shown in the below image -
Winkey + ↑ (up-arrow)	This shortcut is used to maximize the window.
Winkey + ↓ (Down-arrow)	This shortcut is used to minimize the window.
Winkey + ← (Left-arrow)	This shortcut is used to maximize the window to the left side of the screen.
Winkey + → (Right-arrow)	This shortcut is used to maximize the window to the right side of the screen.
Winkey + x	This shortcut is used to open the windows mobility center, where you can adjust volume, brightness, and more.
Winkey + t	This shortcut is used to cycle through the programs on the taskbar.
Winkey + +	This shortcut is used to operate the windows magnifier. It is the combination of a window key and plus sign. Winkey + + will zoom in the window.
Winkey + -	This shortcut is used to operate the windows magnifier. It is the combination of the window key and minus sign. Winkey + - will zoom out the window.
Winkey + u	This shortcut is used to activate the Ease of Use center.
Winkey + h	This shortcut is used to open the share sidebar.
Winkey + I	This shortcut is used to open the settings menu.
Winkey + k	This shortcut is used to open the connect sidebar (To connect with a new Bluetooth device or Miracast).
Winkey + Prtsc	This shortcut is a combination of a window key and a print screen key. It is used to take a screenshot of the entire desktop, and it will save the screenshot to the screenshots folder in the Pictures folder. Note: You can open the screenshots folder by pressing Winkey + r and then write pictures and enter. After that, click the screenshots folder.
Winkey + comma (,)	This shortcut is used to create a temporary peek on the desktop.
Winkey + pause	This shortcut is used to open the system properties window.

Now, let's see some of the shortcut commands related to the run dialog box.

We can open the run dialog box by pressing Winkey + r. Using this run dialog box, we can also open other programs. For instance, if we have to open the Microsoft word using the run dialog box, we can open the run dialog box by pressing Winkey + r, type winword in opened run window, and press enter. Similarly, we can open other programs by entering commands in the run dialog box.

The run commands are tabulated as follows:

Winkey + r, then write pictures	This will open the pictures folder.
Winkey + r, then write c:	This will open the C drive in explorer. Similarly, you can open other drives by writing the drive name and colon in the run dialog box and then press enter.
Winkey + r, then write cmd	This will open the command prompt.
Winkey + r, then write control	This will open the control panel.
Winkey + r, then write control printers.	This will access the classic printer settings via the control panel.
