PHP natcasesort() function

The natcasesort( ) function is used to sort an array using a case insensitive "natural array" algorithm. The function implements a sort algorithm but maintains original keys and values. This function was introduced in PHP 4.0.

Syntax

Parameter

Parameter	Description	Is compulsory
array	The input array.	compulsory

Returns

The natcasesort( ) function returns true on success or false on failure.

Example 1

$arr1 = array("Sachin", "sehwag", "Rahul", "virat");
$arr2 = $arr1;
sort($arr1);
echo "Standard sorting\n";
print_r($arr1);
natcasesort($arr2);
echo "Natural order case insensitve: ";
print_r($arr2);
?>

Output:

Standard sorting
Array
(
    [0] => Rahul
    [1] => Sachin
    [2] =>sehwag
    [3] =>virat
)
Natural order case insensitve: Array
(
    [2] => Rahul
    [0] => Sachin
