Recent business scenarios have shown that business analysts have a key role to play. Some people assume that a Business Analyst's job is to make money for the company, which might not be valid directly. But, implicitly, the actions and decisions made by analysts have an effect on the organization's financial prospects.
What does a Business Analyst Do?
The primary role of the Business Analyst is to interact with the stakeholders. It also works to create, evaluate requirements for change of business processes, systems and policies.

Skills of a Good Business Analyst
Basically, a good business analyst is judged on these four qualities.
- Analytical skills- A good business analyst can be characterized by outstanding analytical skills. A good part of the BA role involves data processing, workflow, input from users or stakeholders, documentation, etc.
- Leadership skills- Directing team members, budget projections, helping colleagues and team members.
- Business process and planning- Planning the design of the project, understanding and implementing the specifications of the project, determining the resources necessary for the project, etc.
- Technical skill- If an IT business analyst is involved, few technical issues need to be found, such as operating systems, hardware capabilities, database principles, networking, SDLC technique, etc.
As per the International Institute for Business Analysis (IIBA), CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Specialist), qualification is recognized as a Credential of Specialist Business Analysts. It is a computer-based certification that consists of multiple-choice questions.
They have two types of certification.
- Certification of Business Analysis Competency: a minimum of 3,750 hours of work experience is required for this certification.
- Certified Business Analyst Profession (senior-level): This qualification requires at least 7,500 hours of job experience.
The position of a business analyst is promising and needs to work with various levels of the company. Business analysts are referred to as Business Process Analyst, IT Business Analyst, and so on.
