Terabit

A Tb is the unit symbol of Terabit, which is a multiple of unit bits. This unit is used for measuring the amount of data. In short, Terabit is also called Tbit.
In the word Terabit, Tera denotes the twelth power of 10, which means 1012.
1 Terabit is equivalent to following values:

  • 1012 bits,
  • 1 000 000 000 000 bits,
  • 1000 gigabits.
  • 1000 000 megabits.

1000 terabits are present in 1 Petabit.
It is used for measuring the data which is transferred between the two devices of the network. It is also used to measure the amount of flash drives. Terabit (Tb) is that unit, which is larger than gigabit (Gb) and smaller than the unit petabit (Pb).

Difference between Terabit and Terabyte

Terabit is a unit which is smaller than the Terabyte. Terabit is usually used in measuring the data rates, while Terabyte is used to measure the data stored in the storage devices. The Tb is a symbol of Terabit, whereas TB is a symbol of Terabyte.
1 Terabyte = 8 Terabits.
