Difference Between Wifi and Hotspot

What is Wifi?

Wifi (Wireless Fidelity or Wi-Fi) is wireless communication technology.

This technology uses radio frequency waves for connecting the mobiles, laptops, and tablets to the internet without using the actual cables. It also allows wireless devices to exchange information after creating a network.

It is a type of WLAN protocol which is based on the 802.11 IEEE network standards.

If any user has high-speed internet and also has a wireless router, then that user has a wifi connection.

This technology is widely used in home networking. In this technology, electromagnetic waves are used as a medium under the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Wifi is a built-in function in all the operating systems.

The main advantage of this technology is that it is cordless internet access.

What is Hotspot?

This technology is created using Wi-Fi technology. Hotspot technology uses a wireless access point, which provides an internet connection to wireless devices using Wifi connectivity.

In this technology, the wireless access point is connected to the router, which is connected directly to the internet service provider.

The hotspot can be available in public places as well as in private places. Various public places such as restaurants, hotels, colleges, universities, libraries, and hostels provide hotspot technology to the public. In some cities, hotspot technology may also be available in the parks.

2. It is more secure than the Hotspot technology.2. It is less secure than the Wifi technology because they are used in public places.
3. It is used between the access point and wireless devices.3. It is created when the access point connects to the router or gateway.
4. As compared to the hotspot, its speed is high in the case of more than 2 users.4. As compared to Wi-Fi technology, its speed is low in the case of more than 2 users.
