Java Float longValue() Method

The longValue() method of Java Float class returns the value of this float object as a long after narrowing the primitive values or by casting to type long.

Syntax:

Parameters:

Return Value:

The longValue() method returns the float value corresponding to this Float which has been converted to type long.

Example 1

public class FloatLongValueExample1{
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        float f1 = 9655;
        Float f2 = new Float(f1);
        // return the long value of double object
        Long val1 = f2.longValue();
        System.out.println("1. "+"Long value for "+f1+" = "+val1);
       //will return the long value by narrowing the primitive value
        Float f3 = new Float(999657587698541166666633335679.675);
        System.out.println("2. "+"Long value for "+f3+" = "+f3.longValue());
        //passing negative integer
        Float f4 = new Float(-86776985679.88675);
        System.out.println("3. '+"Long value for "+f4+" = "+f4.longValue());
        //passing maximum value
        Float f5 = Float.MAX_VALUE;
        System.out.println("4. "+"Long value for "+f5+" = "+f5.longValue());
        //passing minimum value
        Float f6 = Float.MIN_VALUE;
        System.out.println("5. "+"Long value for "+f6+" = "+f6.longValue());

        Float f7 = Float.MIN_NORMAL;
        System.out.println("7. "+"Long value for "+f7+" = "+f7.longValue());

        //multiplying long value
        Long val2= f1.longValue()*f2.longValue()*f3.longValue();
        System.out.println("1.Mul:     "+f1.longValue()+"*"+f2.longValue()+"*"+f3.longValue()+" = "+ val2);

        }
        else if (val1 >30000 && val1< 80000) {
            Long l1= val1 + 5000;
            System.out.println("You got an increment of 5000.\nYour new salary is:" +l1);
        } else if (val1 > 80000 && val1<100000) {
            Long l2= val1 + 8000;
