Java Short equals() Method

The equals() method of Short class is used to compare two objects for checking equality.

Syntax

Parameters

Obj: the object to compare with

Return value

True: If both object are same.

False: If both object are different.

Example1: (Both object same)

public class ShortEqualsExample1 { 
 public static void main(String[] args) { 
 // create short object and assign value to it        
Short sObject1 =  55;        
Short sObject2 = 55;               
//  Equals method will return True because both Object are same        
boolean result = sObject1.equals(sObject2);         
System.out.println("short Obj1 "+sObject1+" and short Obj2 "+sObject2+"  are same : " + result);  
} 
} 

Test it Now

Output:

short Obj1 55 and short Obj2 55  are same : true

Example 2: (Both object different)

public class ShortEqualsExample2 { 
public static void main(String[] args) { 
 // create short object and assign value to it               
Short sObject1 =  65;        
Short sObject2 = 85;        
//  Equals method will return False because both Object are different        
boolean result = sObject1.equals(sObject2);         
System.out.println("short Obj1 "+sObject1+" and short Obj2 "+sObject2+"  are same : " + result); 
} 
}

Output:

short Obj1 65 and short Obj2 85  are same : false
