What is the full form of AIIMS

AIIMS: All India Institute of Medical Sciences

AIIMS stands for All India Institute of Medical Sciences. It is a premier medical college and hospital based in New Delhi, India. It operates under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (India). AIIMS is governed by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act, 1956.

It provides a number of medical courses; MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) is one of them. It is a leader in the field of medical research. It has more than 600 research publications by its faculty and researchers in one year. It also runs a Nursing College to provide B.Sc Hons. Nursing degree and manages a 60-beded hospital at Ballabgarh in Haryana.

Its 25 clinical departments including four super specialty centers handle all types of medical conditions. However, dog-bite cases and infectious diseases are not entertained in AIIMS.
