DNB: Diplomate of National Board

DNB stands for Diplomate of National Board. It is a title awarded by the National Board of Examination (NBE), which is an autonomous academic body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. It is awarded to the candidates who successfully complete postgraduate or postdoctoral medical education under the National Board of Examination (NBE).

There are around 150 recognized medical colleges that offer DNB programs. It does not stand for a single medical course. It is offered in various medical disciplines. Some of the popular super specialities for DNB are listed below:

Criteria for Diploma National Board Admission

The Diploma National Board course is a postgraduate, full-time programme that lasts up to three years.

Candidates must pass the DNB - CET entrance exam and meet the eligibility requirements of the Diploma National Board in order to be eligible to sit for the MBBS or comparable examination. The student's eligibility for the Diploma National Board is further decided as follows.

• Students applying for admission to the Diploma National Board shouldn't be older than 50.
• Only those students who earned their MBBS from an accredited institution or university with an overall grade point average of 50% are permitted to enrol in the DNB programme.
• The examinations for the CET-NBE or DNB-CET must have been passed by the applicants.
• Candidates with MBBS degrees from institutions other than Indian universities or from international institutions may also apply for admission.
• Before submitting an application for admission to DNB, students need to finish their one-year rotating internship.
• To enrol in the Diploma National Board programme, students must hold a medical degree and a permanent registration certificate granted by the MCI.
