M.Ch stands for Magister Chirurgiae. It is a Latin term for Master of Surgery. It is a postgraduate degree programme that leads to the designation of Surgeon upon completion. According to the Medical Council of India, around 1500 seats are available for the degree across the country. Popular M.Ch specializations include neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, plastic surgery, and urology.

M.Ch is a postgraduate degree pursued by candidates who have completed their MBBS or MS degree with the minimum qualifying percentage set up by the examination authority. Eligibility

  • Admission to all M.Ch courses in the country will be based on NEET-SS scores. The National Board of Examinations supervises the NEET-SS entrance exam in only one computer-based shift.
  • Candidates will be assigned seats based on their NEET-SS merit rank, their chosen course, and available seats. Medical graduates must provide several documents at their NEET-SS examination centre. They are as follows:
  1. State Medical Council/Medical Council India Registration Photocopy, Permanent or Provisional
  2. Admit card with a photo pasted in the appropriate location.
