How to become a Police Sub Inspector (PSI)?

One must first meet the eligibility requirements established by the respective state or central commission that administers the exams in order to become a police sub-inspector.

A minimum prerequisite for becoming a police sub-inspector is having a bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Any stream is acceptable, but you must achieve a minimum of 50% of the required marks to qualify. The minimum age requirement for this varies by state. Most of the time, it is between 18 and 28 years old, yet there are several categories that allow for age relaxation.

Candidates may register for the exam after fulfilling the requirements. They must appear for the written examination. The physical standards test (PST) is the next step after appearing and passing the written tests. For men, the minimum height is at least 170 cm, and it's necessary to have an unexpanded chest measurement of 80 cm to 85 cm. However, the requirements are varied for Female candidates. The height requirement for female candidates is 157 cm. The selected candidates then go through a physical endurance test, another written exam, a medical test, and an interview. However, the process and eligibility criteria vary accordingly depending on the recruitment board one is applying for. Additionally, candidates may be given an age relaxation depending on their category and the state.
