Create a PDF?

PDFs are very useful for contributing to your work. There are free PDF readers available for Android users, Windows users, Mac users, etc. Creating a PDF is a great way to share your ideas as well as promote them and make sure they can't be altered without having to leave a digital footprint.

You must have the proper software to create a PDF. The most common and well-known software is Adobe Acrobat. Adobe provides a free PDF viewer named Adobe Reader that you can download free of charge. But to create a PDF or to perform any other PDF operations, you must have to purchase this software.

Additionally, some good PDF applications from third parties can be downloaded for free.

There are many ways to create a PDF file, and they are all quite simple. Let's see one by one:

1. Creating a PDF from Adobe Acrobat DC

  • Open Adobe Acrobat Reader and choose Tools And select Create PDF tool.

  • Select the file type you want to create a PDF from a single file, multiple files, scan, or other option.

  • Click "Create".
  • Follow the instructions to convert it to PDF and save it to the desired location.

2. Creating a PDF from MS Word

  • Open the MS Office and open your document.
  • Click on Office Button and choose Save As > PDF or XPS

  • Select the location and give the name of the file in the File name Select PDF from the Save as type drop-down list.

  • Click on the Publish button to start the PDF creation process.
  • Now you have a PDF with the defined name and location. If your computer has a PDF reader installed, the PDF will automatically open after it has been published.

3. Creating a PDF using PDF Printer

Windows10 and other latest build of Windows provide an integrated PDF driver that converts documents to PDF. It is very easy to use. All you have to do is choose the print option of the document and choose the PDF option as your printer.

Through the PDF Printer, you can create a pdf from anything like text files, web pages, office documents, web pages, presentations, etc.

I will use a Text File to show you an example.

  • Open a Text file in Notepad or any other text editor.
  • Go to the File menu and choose the Print option or press ctrl+p. It will look a little different depending on the editor you are printing from, but the process is pretty much the same no matter what the source.

  • Once you select the Print option, the default Windows print window will open. Select the options Microsoft Print to PDF from the Select Printer section and press on the Print

  • Windows will open a standard Save As window when you print, so you can give the name and save your new PDF. So, select a location and give a name to your PDF and then press the Save

4. Creating a PDF from an online Tool

There are multiple free online tools available to create a PDF. And if you want to create a PDF from images or if you need some extra settings, or if you don't want to buy Adobe products, then you can use free online tools. There are many free PDF creation online tools. Such as sodaPDF, PDFelement, PDFCreator, pdfforge, free pdf convert, PDFpro, Smallpdf, pdf-converter, etc.

These online tools are very easy to use and totally free. You just need to upload a file you want to create to PDF, and in a few seconds, the PDF file will be ready to download.

Here, we will use Smallpdf online tool.

  • Open the given link. You will get the page like below:

  • Drag and drop your file or select the CHOOSE FILES option to browse your file. You can use any file like Word, Excel, PPT, or image files.
  • Once you browse your file then wait for some time, the tool will upload and transform the file into a PDF. You will get the Download button. Click on Download to download your PDF file to your device. You can directly export the pdf to Dropbox or Google Drive.
