Summary

Sher Singh was 12 years old, and his brother was younger. He had numerous siblings who died due to cholera and influenza. Just two of them survived at that point. Sher Singh as well as Kuwar. The story opens with the revelation that Sher Singh's brother is experiencing stomach pain. Sher Singh drove his brother to the Kalaghat Hospital but encountered many issues on his route to the hospital. Sher Singh set out carrying his brother. He walked through the forest on foot.

He wasn't concerned with himself and tried to save his younger brother's life. Without assistance, he had crossed two rivers. On the path, he spotted a cobra. While he remained still, the cobra went through the grass. After that, he continued walking.

Along with his brother, Sheer Singh was traveling to Kalaghan. He was moving from the forest. He was exhausted. He closed his eyes as he relaxed next to a tree. He heard elephants' sounds. They came close to him. If he shouted, it might be harmful. Running while carrying his brother was impossible for him. He had arrived at the riverbed. Later, the elephants were gone. He felt relaxed. He arrived at the river and offered a prayer of gratitude before crossing the first river.

He heard the second river ahead of him just before midnight. Later, he arrived at the river. The bridge shook like a beast. He began crossing the river while ensuring his brother's head was above water.

Moving through the chill, ferocious river flow while carrying his brother was an intense challenge for Sher Singh. After a persistent struggle, he crossed the river and arrived at the road leading to Kalaghat. Then, he could ride in a bullock cart and a truck to get to Kalaghat clinic to take his sick brother there. After taking his brother to the hospital, Sher Singh found a job in the rail yards and utilized the money he made to purchase a few things for a meal.

The doctors were shocked to learn that Sher Singh was the young boy who had brought the ill Kunwar from Laidwani. The doctor addressed him as "Sher Singh Bahadur" and guaranteed his brother would survive.

Conclusion

The narrative centers around jungle life. Living in a forest is risky. For survival, people must struggle. There is no medical facility there. Various illnesses, like cholera and influenza, cause death. Animals kill some people. The father of Sher Singh has a physical scar. It occurred because of the claws of the tiger. Sher Singh was terrified when he saw an elephant and a cobra in the forest. On the journey to Kalaghat, he had trouble crossing the river. Norah Bruke's experiences in the jungle are reflected in her works. The heroism of a jungle boy is the main theme of the "My Brother My Brother" story.
