Rain on the Roof Overview

Additionally, he thinks about her mother, who is no longer with him but whose memories live on in him. He also remembers how her mother cares for him on rainy days to prevent him from becoming sick. While listening to the rain, he thinks back on all of his wonderful former experiences.

Rain on the Roof English Summary

When the humid shadows float, the poet writes in this poem (by "humid shadows," he means gloomy clouds filled with water). He makes this statement as the sky is covered in dark, moist, water-filled clouds about to begin raining. In addition, these clouds pass overhead over the starry spheres (nighttime starry sky). Then, huge moisture-filled clouds start to glide over the sky. Tears-like showers from the sky wash away the night's depressing gloom. Furthermore, the poet compares the raindrops to tears because the dark sky appears sad.

Rain On The Roof Summary Class 9 English

The author says in this poem, "When the humid shadows float" (by "humid shadows," he means gloomy clouds laden with water). As he makes this comment, the sky is dark, wet, and loaded with clouds about to start raining. Additionally, these clouds will cover the starry spheres as they cross the evening starry sky.

Then, enormous, moisture-filled clouds begin to spread across the sky. In addition, the sky's tear-like showers wash away the night's dreary gloom.

Additionally, the raindrops on the rooftops give him inspiration for a variety of fresh and new dreams. For instance, he can remember many of his former experiences that keep returning to him as dreams. As a result, he has many new dreams while listening to the rain pattern on the Roof.

The poet introduces his mother and describes how much he misses her in the closing paragraph. As was stated in the stanza before, rain conjures up recollections. They reflected the memory of his mother, who is no longer with us. Long ago, his mother cherished him and called him her darling. She would also let him sleep until dawn and have delightful fantasies. He can feel his mother's eyes on him while he enjoys the sound of rain on his room's rooftop. In addition, the sound of the rain makes him think about his history and present. That's why the sound of raindrops on his room's Roof moved him so much. Every time he hears this sound, it reminds him of his mother and brings back memories.
