The Book that Saved the Earth Summary Class 10 English

The author of the play The Book That Saved the Earth is Claire Bioko. In the twenty-fifth century, while seated in The Museum of Ancient History, The Historian tells the story of the Martians who invaded Earth in the twentieth century and took over the planet.

The drama takes place in the 20th century, sometimes known as the Era of the Book. The play is comprised of made-up individuals with peculiar names like Mighty Chief Think-Tank, Apprentice Noodle, Captain Omega, Lieutenant Iota, and Sergeant Oop.

Think-Tank intends to travel to Earth with his squad since he views himself as the most powerful and knowledgeable Martian. He continuously seeks praise for his intelligence since he believes he is the smartest person because he has a giant balloon head.

He and his squad are interested in learning how Earthlings (those who dwell on Earth) live and how the Martians may conquer that planet and govern it with generosity. They soon arrived at the Earth's Centerville Public Library, which was stuffed with volumes. But kids are unable to comprehend why certain items are maintained on the shelf.

The great Think-Tank informs his staff that since humans enjoy eating, the items displayed on the shelves are presumably sandwiches in order to demonstrate his sage advice. The book is to be eaten; he soon commands Captain Omega, Lieutenant Iota, and Sergeant Oop. Ingeniously, Sergeant Oop is given the duty of consuming the book by Captain Omega and Lieutenant Iota. Sergeant Oop must eat a corner of the book since he has no other option, but he dislikes the flavor.

According to him, the influential Think-Tank finds it to be completely unappetizing. The crew learns from this that the book is not intended for consumption. After some time, Apprentice Noodle tells the powerful Think-Tank that it's likely that the book is being utilized for audio transmission. They all put the book close to their ears in an effort to hear it, but nothing came out.

Later, Noodle tells Think-Tank that the book may be used for eye-to-eye conversation. The powerful Think-Tank concurs and instructs every member of the team to open and read the book. The book's title is Mother Goose, and it is a collection of nursery rhymes. However, due to their poor understanding, they are unable to read it.

Apprentice Noodle quickly informs Think-Tank that the Mars chemistry department has provided vitamin tablets to increase the crew's IQ. Think-Tank gives his staff the command to take those tablets at once. The crew reads the literature before popping the capsules. Soon after Sergeant Oop begins reading the rhyme book, they begin to interpret the rhymes' words literally. When he narrates the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty, they all notice how Think-Tank looks like Humpty in the illustration.

When Think-Tank sees this, he is terrified to learn that Earthlings have already recognized him and intend to murder him. The great Think-Tank summons his Martian team and advises them to put off the thought of conquering Earth for the time being in light of all the facts they have learned about Earthlings.

As a result, he orders his people to leave the area as soon as possible without leaving a trace and evacuate Mars as a whole. He gives the command for his squad to travel 100 million miles in the direction of Alpha Centauri. Thus, Mother Goose, an antiquated book of nursery rhymes, rescued Earth from the Martian invasion.
