We should conserve forest and wild life because:

Some methods for forest conservation are as follow :

  3. Insects and pests should be kept out of forests. Spraying pesticides and insecticides in woods are recommended.

Find out about the traditional systems of water harvesting management in your region.?


Many of us reside in urban areas where municipal agencies provide water. Rainwater harvesting systems are placed in the homes, collecting the runoff and channeling it into a dedicated pit. This promotes groundwater recharging.

In soak pits, efforts are undertaken to collect runoff from the rain. The water table may rise due to this water's ability to enrich subsurface water.

Rooftop runoff water can also be collected in ditches designed to raise the subsurface water table.

Compare the above systems with the probable systems in hilly/mountainous areas or plains or plateau regions.


Drinking water system in hilly areas:

  1. In hilly regions like Himachal Pradesh, kuhl irrigation systems were traditionally used. In this system, little drains constructed by humans transport water from falls to villages situated in lower regions.
  2. In Meghalaya, bamboo drains transport water to the lower areas of the hills.

Drinking water system in plains:

  3. It should be unlawful to hunt forest animals, and they should be protected.

b.) As individuals, we can contribute the following in managing water resources.

  1. Tap should be closed when water is not used while brushing, shaving, or washing hands.
  2. Protect water sources from getting polluted.
  3. If there is a leak in the water distribution system, it must be fixed, or the authorities must address the concern.

c.) Each of us can make the following contributions to the management of coal and petroleum.

  1. Instead of using private vehicles, one must use public transport to conserve fuel.
  2. Avoid wasting electricity.
