ABB Company History

Since the late 1800s, the ABB Group has had a long and storied history of invention and technological leadership in various industries. Ludvig Fredholm (of ASEA), Charles E.L. Brown, and Walter Boveri created the ABB Group in the late 1800s (of BBC).

ABB has transitioned from large-scale solutions to alternative energy and sophisticated products and technology in power and automation. In 1988, the automation behemoth ASEA and the mainstream energy and power behemoth BBC united to establish ABB.
