History of Bajaj Company

Kamalnayan Bajaj (1915-1972)

Kamlanayan Bajaj is the son of Jamnalal Bajaj, and he had studied at Cambridge University. He was overseeing the functioning of the Bajaj Group of Companies. Kamalnayan, to help his father in business, divided his business into parts: - Alloy Casting, Electricals, Scooter, Three-wheeler, cement, and alloy.

Ramkrishna Bajaj (1924-1994)

After the death of Kamalnayan Bajaj in 1972, Ramkrishna Bajaj took over the business. Ramkrishna was focused on social service and welfare. He was a younger son.

Rahul Bajaj is the managing director of the company. He obtained his degree at St. Stephen's College, Delhi. He established all his control on the company in 1965 and made an effort to establish one of the big companies in India. The President of India presented an award called CII President's Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Bajaj Auto Limited

It is based in Pune, Maharashtra. It is public type company and has a strong footprint in the Automobile sector. They carry out their operations globally. This company has experience in making motorcycles, autorickshaws, and scooters. Jamnalal Bajaj founded it in Rajasthan in 1940. Bajaj Auto first came into existence as M/s Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited. They first used to import the vehicle and sell it to its customer. Later, they got permission from the Central Government to make three-wheelers and two-wheelers. They also got permission from Piaggio to make Vespa Brand Scooters, and then it turned into a public company.

Bajaj also came into agreement with Kawasaki for manufacturing and selling vehicles in the market. Bajaj also entered into Bajaj Tempo by gaining shares in Tempo Firodia Company. Later, they also bought their stake in Austrian rival KTM. They did it through their Dutch subsidiary Bajaj Auto International Holding BV. Bajaj also made an agreement with Triumph Motorcycles Ltd to manufacture mid-capacity motorcycles. Bajaj, in 2019 invested money in electric scooters and bicycles in a startup called Yulu.

According to data, Bajaj exports the largest number of motorcycles to other countries. They introduced a new motorcycle which has sporty performance and achieved the target of 150cc and 180cc pulsar. The models which are produced by the Bajaj include CT 100 Platina, Pulsar, Avenger, Discover, and Dominar. Some business media houses reported that 37.6 vehicles were sold.

They introduced a car in the market called Bajaj Quote that was meant for inner-city transportation and law recognized as Quadricycle. According to the group, it has a velocity of 70km/hr, 200cc rear-mounted petrol engine, and emission of carbon 60g/km. The company had a total strength of 10,000 employees as per data in 2019; 51 female and 25-differently abled. The company spends the amount of 650 crores on employee expenses. The owner has a wealth of US $2 billion.

Bike of the year 2010 has been awarded to Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS from BBC top Gear and Bike India. Frost and Sullivan Super Platinum Award were won by Bajaj auto in 2006 for manufacturing excellence. They have also received the award for the Most Consumer Responsive.

Bajaj Electricals

Bajaj Electricals is a part of the Bajaj Group and has expertise in making electrical types of equipment, luminaries, appliances, and lighting. It is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange, and it was founded on 14 July 1938. The company has a revenue of Rs 27.7 billion. Bajaj electricals has a subsidiary called Starlite Lighting. They undertake engineering projects like high mast, telecommunications towers, transmission line towers, and special initiatives like wind energy and solar energy. Some of the appreciated projects are Bandra- Worli Sea Link and Commonwealth Games. They have 19 branch offices all over India and have a chain of 1000 distributors, 282 customer care centers, 400,000 retail outlets, and 4000 authorized dealers. Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Limited is chaired by Kushagra Bajaj and is believed to be the largest producer of Sugar. According to the report, Bajaj Stands number one in Asia and in World it stands number 4. Some of the work operations of the company are listed below:

  • Sugarcane crushing capacity- 136,000 tonnes per day
  • Alcohol distillation capacity- 800 kiloliters per day

Their main operations are carried out in Uttar Pradesh, and it is supposed that Bajaj is a leader in this field. They also carry out the production of ethanol- which is a green fuel. It is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Bajaj set up its first plant in Lakhimpur Kheri District. It has a total strength of 7000 employees. The company has a revenue of Rs 135.75 billion.

Mukand Limited

Mukand Limited has expertise in making alloy steel, Stainless Steel, and stainless steel billets. They export items like hot-rolled bars. It is involved in the production of Electrical Overhead Travelling, steel castings, steel products, iron and steel products, cranes, and industrial machinery. Mukand is known for making some of the biggest gantry cranes having an 80-tonne capacity and 60-meter span. This company is chaired by Mr. Niraj Bajaj, and it has total revenue of Rs 3,129 crore and has a total strength of 2400 employees. Their headquarter is based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This company was founded in Lahore in Undivided India in 1929, and thereafter, its ownership moved to Bajaj, and subsequently, its administrative work also moved to Mumbai. The first plant was opened in Thane at a place called Kalwa and began operation in 1965.
