TVS CompanyTVS Motor Firm (TVS) is an Indian motorcycle, scooter, and three-wheeler manufacturer in Chennai, India. It is India's third-largest motorcycle company, with revenue of approximately 20,000 crores (US$2.7 billion) in 2018-19. Each year, the company sells three million vehicles and has over four million production capacity. TVS Motor Company is India's second-largest two-wheeler manufacturer, exporting to over 60 countries. The TVS Group includes TVS Motor Firm Ltd (TVS Motor), the largest company in the TVS Group in terms of size and turnover. In early 2015, TVS Racing became the first Indian factory squad to participate in the Dakar Rally, the world's longest and most dangerous rally. In April 2013, after creating a strategic partnership with BMW Motorrad, TVS began producing the BMW G310R in 2016. In December 2018, the 50,000th G310R series unit was created at the Hosur facility where the motorcycle is made. On December 6, 2017, TVS debuted their most-anticipated motorcycle, the Apache RR 310, during a ceremony in Chennai. The 310cc motorcycle features a BMW-developed engine and the first complete fairing on a TVS motorcycle, dual-channel ABS, EFI, KYB suspension kits, and other features. TVS and Suzuki collaborated on knowledge transfer for the design and manufacture of two-wheelers specifically for the Indian market. The company was renamed TVS-Suzuki, and it produced a variety of automobiles, including the Suzuki Supra, Suzuki Samurai, Suzuki Shogun, and Suzuki Shaolin, among others. The firm was renamed TVS Motor after breaking from Suzuki in 2001, and its rights to use the Suzuki name were relinquished. Suzuki also committed to a 30-month hiatus from the Indian two-wheeler market, during which time it would not participate. Awards and recognitionsIn 2002, TVS Motor was awarded the Deming Application Prize. For its work on the TVS Victor motorcycle, the Technology Development Board of the Ministry of Science and Technology of India gave TVS Motor the National Award for successfully commercializing indigenous technology in the same year.
