Nirma University

Multidisciplinary, non-profit, research-focused Nirma University in Ahmedabad is a state-private university. During its third accreditation session, the University achieved a NAAC A+ rating. Additionally, the Gujarat government has given the Center of Excellence (CoE) designation. The constituent institutes, departments, and centres support the student's overall growth. About

The Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF) was founded in 1994 by prominent industrialist and philanthropist Dr Karsanbhai K. Patel, the chairman of the Nirma Group of Industries, to advance higher education and offer top-notch educational resources to Indian youth. The Gujarat University-affiliated Nirma Institute of Technology was founded in 1995 by the NERF. As a result, the Nirma Institute of Management was established in 1996.

The Gujarat government gave its approval to the NERF's request to establish the Nirma University in Ahmedabad in the year 2003. As a result, the Gujarat State Legislative Assembly passed a particular Act to form the Nirma University. The University received proper recognition from the University Grants Commission following Section 2(f) of the U.G.C. Act.

The NERF is actively dedicated to supporting academics. It firmly holds that education requires a solid basis and that this foundation must be strong. This ideology is used to operate the two "Nirma Vidyavihar" schools in Bodakdev and Chharodi, both in Ahmedabad. Here, it focuses on delivering value-based education alongside cutting-edge teaching strategies.

Admission

• For B.Tech admissions, the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), Gujarat, and a valid GUJCET or JEE Main score is necessary.
• A passing NATA score and the Gujarati Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) are required for admission to the B.Arch course.
• The ACPC exam is the only requirement for B. Pharm admission.
• CLAT eligibility is required for admission to Integrated LL.B courses.
• To be considered for admission to the B.Des courses at Nirma University, students must take the written test and interview.
• Admission to the BBA+MBA course is determined by IPMAT score, class XII performance, and interview.
• Admission to the M.Tech, the GATE score determines the availability, while GPAT scores determine M.Pharm. courses. The University administers its entrance exam for individuals who do not take the GATE or GPAT.
• Admission for B.Tech + M.B.A. is based on valid JEE Mains scores.
• Candidates with a C.A.T. score can apply for an M.B.A.; however, GMAT scores are required for P.O.I., F.N., and CISWA-SEA categories.
• C.A. admissions are handled exclusively by ACPC, while M.Sc. admissions involve a university-based written exam and an interview.
• A passing score on the PG CLAT is necessary for the L.L.M. course, whereas students who did not take the PG CLAT should pass the Institute of Law, Nirma University Entrance Exam.
• For PhD admission, Nirma University holds both an interview and a written examination. The written test is not required for those who have passed the CSIR-NET, UGC-NET, SLET, GPAT, or GATE exams.

Courses and fees

Eight different institutes at Nirma University, including the Institute of Technology, the Institute of Management, the Institute of Pharmacy, and the Institute of Commerce, each offer 44 undergraduate, graduate, diploma, PhD, and integrated programs in a variety of fields, including architecture and planning, business, design, law, and pharmacy. Under four categories-All India, Gujarat state, NRI/NRI supported, Children of Indian Workers of Gulf Countries & South East Asia (CISWA-SEA), and P.I.O. & Foreign Nationals-admission to all programmes provided by Nirma University is both entrance-based and merit-based (F.N.).

Facilities

1. Computing Labs

A well-equipped lab is one of the students' computing resources. A cutting-edge gigabit network connects every area of the Institute. The student and each faculty member have use of a networked laptop computer. High-speed servers operate on various platforms to support the entire system and accommodate multiple requirements. On-campus WI-Fi hotspots and a 2.0 Gbps (2000 Mbps) dedicated optic fibre leased line (effective January 7, 2022) provide constant Internet connectivity. The Institute has also purchased the most recent software, including the Microsoft Office Suite and SPSS v23. Students and professors can access Internet mail servers 24 hours a day.

2. Library Resource Centre (L.R.C.)

In addition to an exceptional collection of business databases, digitized corporate annual reports, C.D.s/DVDs, and significant national and international business publications, the library offers access to various management and business information sources. There are around 31,005 books in the library's collection.

The library has access to 15 databases, including EBSCO, JSTOR, Elsevier's Science Direct: Business Management & Accounting Package, Business Source Complete, Academic Search Elite, Emerald Management 150, and Oxford e-bundle, in addition to roughly 10,964 electronic journals.

The library has a subscription to the I.S.I. Emerging Markets Database, which offers global trade-related data. The library has subscriptions to A.C.E. Equity and A.C.E. Financial and economic databases, including Mutual Funds, Cogenesis, the Institute for Monitoring Indian Economy, Industry Outlook, Financial Outlook, States of India Services, and others. The library also has a socioeconomic database subscription to Indiastat.com.

The campus LAN provides access to the wholly automated Alice for Windows-based library, which is entirely automated and runs on specialist library software. The user-friendly package makes it easier to reserve books, access the catalogue online, and issue and return books using biometric authentication. The library has included the newest I.C.T. tools, like CD, DVD, Barcode scanners, and Text & Graphic camera systems for effective use of library services.

3. Hostels

Boys' and girls' hostels are located separately at the Institute. On campus, there are three hostel buildings. The dormitory rooms are big and nicely furnished. The hostels offer sports and other leisure activities as well as facilities like cable T.V. and social areas. There is constant Internet access available in every dorm room. A qualified caterer is hired to handle the mess at the hostel.

4. CCTV system

The University's academic facilities, including the classrooms, libraries, labs, studios, and reading rooms, have a CCTV servitude Monitoring System installed. Shared spaces, including building entrances, hallways, parking lots, canteens, etc., are also being watched. The University administration keeps a proper amount of close watch on the cameras.

Other Facilities

• There is a Kalupur Commercial Co-operative Bank Ltd branch, which has an A.T.M.
• The Institute also has a variety of sports fields, a food court, a canteen, and medical facilities in addition to the mess.
• Medical Facility: Every weekday from 3:00 AM to 6:00 PM, excluding Sunday, a non-resident doctor is available on campus. The doctor is reachable via phone on Sundays.
• Table tennis rooms, a modern gym with all the critical apparatus, a volleyball area, a lawn tennis court, a basketball court, and a football and cricket field are available at the Institute.

Ranking

The Gujarat government presented Nirma University with the Center of Excellence (CoE) designation at the Vibrant Gujarat Education Summit's International Conference of Academic Institutions 2022.

In the S.C. Imago Institutions Rankings for 2020, Nirma University was 756 globally. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) placed the University among the top 151 bands in India in 2020. Additionally, it received rankings of 131 in engineering, 44 in management, and 17 in pharmacy in 2020.

1. Placement Experience

Campus placements are handled by a separate placement cell at Nirma University. In general, we start to be eligible for internships in our third year and begin to be eligible for campus recruitment in our fourth year. A specialized computer science engineering department's average salary is 17 lakhs, and Bloomberg LP now offers the highest salary at 88.87 lakhs. Nearly 95% of students found their first job on campus. Almost all product- and service-based businesses visit universities to recruit employees. Oracle, Amazon, T.C.S., Infosys, Morgan Stanley, Qualcomm, JP Morgan Chase, Tech Mahindra, Media.net, and others.

2. Remarks

You can use two methods to apply for admission to Nirma University. The first is carried out by ACPC, and the second via Jee main. Your rank from ACPC is determined by 60% of your respective Board exam percentage and 40% of your GUJCET score, and you were given a branch and a college based on your rank. Your position in the second process is determined by Nirma University using your JEE mains overall India rank. In Nirma, 15% of seats are designated for N.R.I. students, 35% are open to students who take the JEE mains, and 50% are accessible to students who take the ACPC.
