8. Khambhalida Caves

The stupa is located in the center cave, which is known as "Chaitya Grih." Two sculptures of Bodhisattvas flank the entrance to this cave. These finely carved sculptures were discovered to be comparable to works from the late Kushana-Kshatapa era. It is thought that Buddhist monks once meditated in these caverns, and the spiritual energies can still be felt now. Fifteen other caves surround the major Khambhalida Caves. Khambhalida Caves are best visited between April and October. It is comfortable to visit during these months due to the weather. The peak travel season occurs during these months.
