1. Ahmedabad

3. Gir National Park

The only place the Asiatic Lions live is at Gir National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is a component of the Kathiawar-Gir dry deciduous forests ecoregion in Talala Gir, Gujarat. The best months for observing animals are April and May, and Gir National Park is closed from June 16 to October 15 each year.

Gir offers you the singular opportunity to travel to a location that almost solely contributes to the survival and sustainability of a particular species. The Nawab of Junagadh started the preservation of these lions when they were just about to reach the period of extinction owing to killing.

According to the official count, there were 411 lions in 2010. 36. Ratanmahal Sloth Bear Sanctuary

A steep isle in Gujarat's Dahod District known as the Ratanmahal Sloth Bear Sanctuary is where sloth bears can be found. Locals advise travelers to avoid the Sloth Bear because they believe it to be even more deadly than a leopard. Gujarat Tourism's full-service hotel facility is on-site at the Kanjeta Eco campground.

This beautiful reserve serves as the source of the River Panam, which merges with the Orange River on Ratanmahal's slopes. The Mira waterfalls inside the refuge are another notable feature. The two-hour walk to the falls may allow you to see a black panther, a leopard, or a four-horned antelope.

A water conservation project with an irrigation dam and reservoir is also located there. The reserve forest property is today owned by 11 communities in the area but once belonged to the then King of Devgadh Baria State. The sanctuary is best visited between October and February.

37. Zanzari Waterfalls

The Zanzari Waterfalls are located along the Vatrak River in Dehgam, Gujarat. A gorgeous collection of rocks, stones, and craters is where the main waterfall, which is 25 feet high.

39. Sardar Patel Zoological Park

A recently opened zoo called Sardar Patel Zoological Park is located in Kevadia, a town in Gujarat's Narmada district. Numerous unique species and migratory birds, including pelicans, flamingos, and mallards, are welcomed at the refuge. Thol Lake adds to the tranquility of the Sanctuary, making it a well-liked hangout for nature enthusiasts.

The lake, designated a sanctuary in 1988, is brimming with species. More than 150 distinct bird species live there, along with various animal species and aquatic and marshy plants. Interestingly, the sanctuary was first built as a shallow reservoir with a 38,000-acre catchment area. The lake covers 700 acres of land and has an immense storage capacity of 84 million cubic meters. It is located not far from the lovely Thol village, which visitors can visit with the assistance of local guides to learn about Gujarati rural life.
