Dr. Renu Raj Ias, born on January 11, 1987, comes from a medically knowledgeable family. Her father retired as a KSRTC conductor, while her mom is a housewife. After finishing her MBBS while studying for the civil service exams, she served for the government's hospital.

Her most recent assignment was Director of Urban Affairs in Tamil Nadu, Kerala. She started as a Sub- Collector at Thrissur, Kerala, on June 12, 2015. She worked in Thrissur for more than two years before being promoted to Director of Urban Affairs by the Tamil Nadu government on May 28, 2020.

When Renu began her work as a sub-collector in the Thrissur district after completing her training in Ernakulam. During her term, she was well-praised for organizing the state school youth carnival in Thrissur and for taking challenging steps against the quarry mafia.

As part of a bureaucratic reorganization, she was promoted to the position of Ernakulam district collector in July 2022. Renu handed over the duty of Alappuzha district collector to her husband, Sriram Venkitaraman, as she left her office at Alappuzha.
