Sachin Tendulkar was born in Dadar, Bombay, on April 24, 1973. Ramesh Tendulkar was his father's name, and he was a well-known poet and writer. Sachin is a half-son born to Rajini, his father's second wife. Tendulkar's father named him after his favorite music director, Sachin Dev Burman.

Sachin got 148 runs in the third test against Australia during the 1991-92 tour, making him the youngest player to achieve a century against Australia. After competing for Mumbai Indians in the 2013 Champions League Twenty20 in India from September to October 2013, he announced his retirement from Twenty20 and limited-overs cricket.

On October 10, 2013, Tendulkar declared that after the two-Test series against the West Indies in November, he would retire from all forms of cricket. For the farewell at his home field, the BCCI agreed to arrange for the two matches to be played in Kolkata and Mumbai.
