Varun Dhawan is a rising star in the Bollywood industry and the son of a famous director David Dhawan. He is an actor by profession. He mainly works in the Hindi Film Industry. He was born on 24 April 1987. His mother name is Karuna Dhawan. He has roots in Punjabi Hindu. He has an elder brother named Rohit Dhawan. He is a well-known director in Bollywood films and has directed films in the past. Rohit made its debut with a film called Desi Boyz. Dhawan has graduated from HR College of Commerce and Economics. Later he obtained a degree from Nottingham Trent University, the United Kingdom, in Business Management. Before making a debut in the acting field, he was Karan Johar, and he had been as Assistant Director and shot a film called My Name Is Khan.

The crux of the story in the film is that Rohan Nanda has to compete against Abhimanyu Singh (Best Friend). The character of Abhimanyu Singh was played by Sidharth Malhotra. Nanda has also to compete against his girlfriend Shanaya. The role of Shanaya was played by famous Bollywood actor Alia Bhatt. Several critics like Rajiv Masand (CNN IBN) and Taran Adarsh (Bollywood Hungama) praised the acting in the film Student of the Year. Student of the Year made the gross business of Rs 1.09 Billion globally. His acting made him earn a nomination in the Filmfare Award as Best Male Debut. After one release of the film, Varun was off the screen for the year, and later, he reappeared in his next film called Main Tera Hero, directed by his father (David Dhawan). Badlapur was the next crime thriller film in which he played a character called Raghav, aka Raghu"Purohit".Raghu was a man from Pune who tried to avenge his wife. It was reported that Dhawan was going into depression. He was engrossed in the film that he took some time to recover from the story. This hard work paid him, and he won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor nomination, and Badlapur earned 811 million globally.

Later, he next appeared in the film called ABCD2- Any Body can Dance. It was another sequel to his earlier film- Any Body Can Dance. In this film, he took up the role of Suresh Mukund. Dishoom movie was directed by his brother Rohit Dhawan in which he played the role of Cop, whose style of functioning was comical in nature. These movies did not perform at the box office and proved to be a setback to Dhawan's career. He was severely criticized for the role in the Coolie No.1, which was a remake of the film in the 1990s. It was streamed on Amazon Prime owing to the covid 19 restrictions. He has completed the shooting of Jug Jugg Jeeyo that will be featuring Neetu Singh, Kiara Advani, and Anil Kapoor. He has also committed to the film called Bhediya. It will be featuring Kirti Sanon, and the storyline would be comical in nature, and it is directed by Amar Kaushik. Post completion of the films, he will begin with the shooting of Sanki, which is a thriller cum action film and is directed by Anurag Singh.
