Khesari Lal Yadav was born in a low-income family on March 15, 1986, in Dhanadih town of Saran region of Bihar. He got the stage name "Khesari" because of his propensity to talk a lot as a kid.

His parents were forced to rent a pucca house after their mud home collapsed in the storm; Khesari was not born in his own home. To make ends meet, Mangaru Lal Yadav, his father, worked as a security guard and a street vendor, selling Chana in the mornings. Three of his brothers make up the family of seven that Khesari belongs to. The four other boys are his uncle's sons, whose mother died when they were little. Involved in raising them was Khesari's mother. Previously, his father lived in Chhapra with his mother and uncle and made his living in Delhi. Acting Career

Khesari began his career as a theatre performer in Bhojpuri theatres in 1998-1999 while singing in the Ramayana and Mahabharata productions. He also learned the Bhojpuri traditional dance Launda Naach during this time. Later, with his parents and wife, he relocated to Okhla, Delhi, where he began selling Litti Chokha. He launched his first album with 12,000 of the money he had saved from selling Litti-chokha, but it was a huge failure. After that, he began working as a servant in the home of Guddu Rangeela, a well-known Bhojpuri singer. After accumulating some money, he spent another 25,000 to release his second album, which received better reviews from the public and helped him earn fame.

He made his acting debut in the Bhojpuri film Sajan Chale Sasural, released in 2012.
