Introduction

Syed Abid Rasheed Shah was a Jammu and Kashmir cadre IAS officer currently an AGMUT cadre member.

Abid has held several positions in the Jammu and Kashmir government, including Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, Anantnag, and Pulwama.

The younger generation of Kashmir is inspired by Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah from Balgarden Srinagar.

He chose the Civil Services under the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 2010 and qualified for IPS. He then reapplied and qualified for IAS in the following year (2012). Due to his activity and prompt response to inquiries, he is a very well-liked public figure among Kashmiris.

It's important to note that his wife, Dr. Sehrish Asgar, is an IAS officer currently serving outside of the government.

He is currently serving as Srinagar City's deputy commissioner.

Marriage And Wife

Sehrish Syed Asgar passed the Kashmir Administrative Service test in 2011 and became the first woman from her state to do so.

In 2012, Syed Asgar, at 25 years old, passed the All-Indian Civil Services Examination to become the second Muslim woman representing Jammu & Kashmir.

She eventually became a member of the 2013 IAS batch, being the initial Muslim woman within her state to accomplish so.

She met Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah after enrolling at Batra Medical College in 2003, and they are now married. They both achieved IPS qualifications together before becoming IAS and getting married.

Syed Sehrish Asgar has stated in various interviews that in addition to her father, a member of the Legislative Council, she had a very encouraging mother, brother, sister, friends, and teachers who enabled her to achieve her goals. She realized in college that joining the civil service is a better approach to assisting society on a bigger scale than doing medicine only at the local level, despite having had a good education and being a qualified doctor.

She particularly advises female applicants to exercise patience in her message to them. This requires a lot of patience and hard work. Be a miracle if you desire a miracle. She is the only female deputy commissioner now serving in Kashmir, and she goes above and above to help the valley's women.

The new Administrative Secretary of the Tourism Department is Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, an IAS officer from the 2012 batch who currently serves as Administrative Secretary of the Culture Department and Chief Executive Officer of the Economic Reconstruction Agency, Jammu and Kashmir.

He took over for Mr. Sarmad Hafeez, another IAS officer who excelled at promoting Kashmir tourism throughout his term.

The selection of Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah to be the new tourism secretary of Kashmir has been praised by the Tourist Trade Interest Guild (TTIG).

According to Vice Chairman of the Tourist Trade Interest Guild (TTIG), Bashir Ahmed Karnai, "We are confident that beneath the guidance of Abid Rashid Shah, Kashmir's tourism sector will reach new levels, and he is going to play a crucial part in advancing the visibility of Kashmir Tourism throughout the world."

In the initial nine months of 2022, during the 75th anniversary of the Azadi ki Mahotsav, 1.62 crore people traveled to Jammu and Kashmir (the paradise on earth), exceeding all previous records set since independence.

About 22 lakhs of those visitors were concentrated in the Kashmir valley. The tourism agency has added 75 off-the-beaten-path tourist spots, and registration for 50,000-bed house stays in rural areas is currently underway to further enhance tourism in the valley.

His Fathers Death

The Directorate of Tourism in Kashmir has expressed condolences to Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary of Tourism & Culture, about the passing of his father. In this regard, a condolence meeting was organized at the Tourist Reception Centre in Srinagar.

Officers and representatives from the tourism department, the tourism development authorities, the J&K Cable Car Corporation, and other related departments attended. Raja Yaqoob, director of tourism for Kashmir, addressed the gathering and expressed his sincere sympathy and condolences to the bereaved.

He says the entire line department is with the grieving family at this difficult time.

The gathering prayed for the deceased's soul's peace and the bereaved's strength and patience. Along with the Directorate of Tourism in Jammu, similar condolence gatherings were organized at the Department of Culture and Archives at the Civil Secretariats in Srinagar and Jammu.

At these sessions, speakers expressed their condolences to Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed and offered prayers for the deceased's soul to find peace. As a sign of respect for the departed soul, a couple of minutes of silence was observed. The bereaved family was prayed for during the meetings to have the fortitude to endure this terrible loss.

After suffering from a brief illness, Syed Abdul Rasheed Shah, a retired divisional forest officer and the father of Syed Abid Rashid Shah, secretary of tourism and culture, passed away. At Peerbagh, prayers for his funeral were offered, and attendees from every walk of life were there.

An order issued by the Lieutenant Governor-led administration states that Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah has been given additional responsibilities as the mission director for the Jal Jeevan Mission in Jammu and Kashmir.
