At Bal Bhavan International School, Maithili and her siblings participated in various music competitions while studying and won many regional and national awards for the school.

In 2011, Maithili participated in Little Champs, a singing reality competition show produced by Zee Tv.

Maithili gained fame in 2017 after taking part in the Rising Star competition. She was the first finalist on the show. She was performing the really powerful song Om Namah Shivaya. Due to this heart-touching music and her excellent voice, she was given a direct invitation to the finals.
