He was born on March 21st, 1994, in Lahla village in Lad-Badhol Tehsil of Mandi District; at the time of death, he was 23. He finished his schooling at Sanik School in Sujanpur Tihara, India. He graduated from Rajdhani College of Delhi University. Kartik also topped the M.Sc. in computer science from Delhi University and rejected the job package of lakhs for the sake of the country's service. During his last year of college, he passed his CDS test, and as a result, he joined the Air Force after being selected for CDS. After being selected, he trained under IAF (Indian Airforce Academy). He got a post in Hyderabad.

Family

His father's name is Parvinder Thakur, and his mother's is Lata Thakur. His father wants to be an Airforce pilot, but destiny says differently Parvinder had worked as a Sub Inspector in Border Security Force (BSF). So, Kartik Took inspiration from his father. And his mother spent her life as a Housewife. Kartik also has one sister named Kartika Thakur, and his sister was doing BDS from Ponta Sahib when Kartik died in 2018.

On the other hand, Kartik's grandfather Shri. Amar Singh is Retired as DSP from Himachal Pradesh Police. And his grandmother Smt. Kamla Devi is the head of Mathehar Panchayat.

However, it is also defined that he took rigorous training in Swimming; it remains unclear how Flying Officer Kartik Thakur Died due to drowning. Then Kartik's Parents decide to have a higher inquiry for the death.
