Introduction

Monali Thakur is one of the most vibrant and gifted playback singers in the Indian film industry or Bollywood. She is a gifted actress as well. Monali, born in Kolkata to a musical family, has won numerous awards, including the National Film Award.

She had been in several films as an actor in addition to singing. She might not draw much attention because of her minor roles, but she has a charm with her talent despite this. She played a full part in "Lakshmi" by Nagesh Kukunoor.

Early Life

She was born on November 3, 1985, into a Bengali household in Kolkata, India. Shakti Thakur, a well-known Bengali artist, is her father. She also has an older sister, Mehuli Thakur, a performer.

Monali is an English graduate of St. Xavier's College in Kolkata. Monali was instructed to dance to classical Hindustani music by Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty and Pandit Jagdish Prasad. In addition to being a trained salsa dancer, Thakur also studied hip-hop and Bharatanatyam.

Educational Qualifications

Monali attended St. Xavier's College and The Future Foundation School in Kolkata. Thakur began performing at local events and singing in school and college competitions. Monali attended the school with other students. She went to school in Kolkata at a prestigious university. Monali pursued her studies despite being certain she wanted to be an artist. She earned an honors degree in English from St. Xavier's College in Kolkata.

Family and Relationships

Monali comes from a long line of vocalists. Shakti, her father, is a well-known Bengali singer. She said that her father is her greatest motivation and she has a lot of support from him. In addition to being a well-known Bengali sing-along singer, Mehuli Thakur Goswami, Thakur's sister, is also a homemaker. Her family is close to her sister, and they all engage in female gossip together.

Personal Life

Monali has dreamed of being a professional playback singer since she was 14. She even participated in a lot of events in high school and college. The height of Monali Thakur is five feet four inches. She has a 68-pound weight.

In 2017, Thakur secretly got married to Maik Richter from Switzerland. Only in June 2020, with the release of her song "Dil Ka Fitoor," in which she and Maik are both featured, Thakur told her about marriage.

Career

As a Singer

She was extremely young when she first began studying music. She used to take part in activities at the college and the school. She participated in the second season of the singing reality competition "Indian Idol 2" in 2005. In this competition, she placed eighth, and the winner was the late Sandeep Acharya.

With the Bengali song "Sundar Kato Sundar" from the movie "Sajoni Aamar Sohag," she made her singing debut in 2000. The songs "Sonali Rodudure" from Dujone (2009), "O Yaara Ve" from Dui Prithibi (2010), "Give Me Freedom" from Bhorer Alo (2011), "He Naropishach" from Arundhati (2014), and "Bolo Na Radhika" from Shahjahan Regency (2019) are a few of her other well-known Bengali songs.

She debuted in Bollywood 2006 with the song "Kubool Kar Le" from Jaan-E-Mann. She gained enormous success thanks to the Bollywood film "Race" (2008)'s songs "Khwab Dekhe" (Sexy Lady) and "Zara Zara Touch Me."

She has also contributed her vocals to several other well-known Bollywood songs, such as "Tu Mohabbat Hai" from Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012), "Moh Moh ke Dhaage" from Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), and "Ho Jaa Awara" from Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019). She has also performed the Tamil songs "Yaro Yaro" and "Naalum Naalum" from the movies 60 Vayadu Maaniram (2018) and Madha Yaanai Koottam (2013). She performed the Kannada song "Soojiga Nanava" from the movie Vardhana in 2017.

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Bangla (2009-2011), Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Sangeet er Sera Mancha, Rising Star India 2, and MTV Youth (2019) are just a few of the singing TV reality series in which she has judged contestants. Together with her husband, Maik Richter, she sang and appeared in the music video for "Dil Ka Fitoor" in 2020.

As an Actor

She played the lead character Indubala in the Bengali TV series "Aalokito Ek Indu" when she was still a young actor. She later performed in the television movie Phagune Agun. She made her acting debut in the Bengali movie "Krishnakanter Will" in 2007, playing the part of Bhramar.

In the well-known Bollywood movie "PK" (2014), she was also seen portraying a Kashmiri girl. She made her Bollywood debut in the 2014 movie "Lakshmi," in which she also starred as the lead.
